Launched in 2371, the USS Corsair participated in anti-Maquis operations until the outbreak of the Dominion War. By the time the war started, the ship already had a reputation of being crewed by misfits and troublemakers, most of whom were one mistake away from being drummed out of the fleet.

At least, that was the official story. In fact, the Corsair had been assigned to Starfleet’s Special Operations Command, where she conducted highly classified operations. During the Dominion War, the ship was attached to Task Force 96, where she served as a scout and escort vessel.
